Today is my 5 years anniversary at DeviantArt Five years ago I created this account and five years ago I bought my first digital camera with the wish to create something artistic.
When I first came here I would never have guessed how much an internet community could change my life. I came here because of a photographer who is not active here any longer and who has not the same meaning she once had for me but I am still very grateful I found her because she somehow set a new course to my life. Now, I am in the fourth term studying photodesign. I would never have guessed that photography would become my profession one day.
I know this graphic is very big but it shows you how my photographic style, if you want to call it like that, changed over the past five years. It only includes my portrait work because I think you can best see the changes here and because my focus is mostly on people.
Ich bin dann gespannt darauf, was du in 5 Jahren vorzuweisen hast...
I always loved your self-portraits (although I don't know if you were really trying to portray YOU or if you were acting back then and were just your own model), but your style has matured so much since then, it's amazing to see the progress. I like how raw your photos were in the beginning. I also enjoyed this certain "awkwardness" they have to them, this is by no means meant in a negative way, there is a little uncertainty when you begin something and haven't got much experience yet, but you turned this inexperiencedness (is that a word? *g*) into a way to show how genuine your photos were. I loved your portraits from 2006, but you rocked my socks off when you suddenly turned to colour photography. Your black and white pictures are very classic, which is fantastic, but the colour ones are so daring and powerful, they have a whole different energy to them. I think with what you've posted so far in 2008, you've proven that you have become more sophisticated considering your art, the awkwardness was replaced by the power of her woman who is still learning, but who is able to stand her ground now.
I hope that I'll be able to follow your progress for a very long time and that you'll get as far in this profession as you desire, and that the good experiences will overpower the not soo good ones and the set backs. : )
Congratulations for five years of living the dream. ^^

thanks so much. i really do not know what to say because this is one of the most precious and thoughtful things anyone has ever said about me and my photography. and again thank you because i remain speechless
I guess I'm full of "thoughtful comments", I just don't have the time to write such feedback for every picture I see. And in a way, I really can't be arsed to do it, because dA is deteriorating so much, imho. : (

freedom is not an empty space. freedom is the ability of partecipating.
